Syndicate-busting drug raids across Sydney - 9 arrested

Over 100 police officers raided properties across Sydney on March 4 2020, busting a drug syndicate operating at licenced premises and music festivals.

Strike Force Hiddennite officers searched seven properties in Leumeah, Cabramatta, Campsie, Berala, Fairfield, Oakville and Macquarie Park and nine people were arrested. Six men and three women were taken to local police stations.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Patton of NSW Police confirmed in a press conference that
MDMA, LSD, ketamine, cocaine and some reptiles were discovered. He said the syndicate was busted after identifying its manager and upline supplier.

Surry Hills Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established the Strike Force in July 2019 to investigate and target the supply of prohibited drugs. Officers from all Metropolitan RES units – Bass Hill, Gordon, Penrith, Redfern and Wetherill Park – as well as Fairfield and Campsie Police Area Commands, Newcastle City Police District, Operation ODIN and the Dog Unit, assisted the operation.
