Police search for man who tried to abduct 6yo girl

Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a six-year-old girl from her home at Loganlea, south of Brisbane.

An unknown man forced his way into the Pinelands Street house at around 5.00am on Monday 16 October 2017.

A police spokesperson said, 'Once inside the man entered the upstairs bedroom of a six-year-old girl before removing her from the bed and carrying the child downstairs'.

The girl's screams alerted her parents and the offender struck her in the face before he fled the home.

The man was described as having a dark complexion, and is aged in his early 20s.

He was wearing long pants, a dark hoodie, and was seen riding a BMX bike.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 3.00am and 5.00am to come forward.

The child was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment and counselling.
