On 22 December 2010 the Commission concluded its investigation into Mr Gordon Featherstone and found that he breached the provisions of the Code of Conduct for Unregistered Practitioners.

Under section 41A(2)(a) of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993, the Commission decided to place a prohibition order on provision of health services by Mr Featherstone.

Under section 41A(2)(b) of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993, the Commission has decided to issue the following public statement: 

In 2009 Mr Gordon Featherstone, an unregistered health practitioner, breached clause 13 of the Code of Conduct for unregistered health practitioners when he had a close personal relationship with a client with whom he was engaged in a therapeutic relationship and then commenced a sexual relationship.

Following investigation the Commission makes the following prohibition order with respect to Mr Featherstone:

a.    Mr Featherstone must not work in a health service for a period of twelve months 
       effective from the date of the prohibition order.

b.    Mr Featherstone must complete a health ethics course before providing health 
       services to any patients.
