On 22 June 2010 the Appeals Committee upheld a decision of a Disciplinary Committee handed down on 23 September 2008 which found Mr T Doug Watkins guilty of a breach of Clause 27(1)(h) of the former Constitution in that before any court of law in any jurisdiction in Australia or elsewhere, he was found guilty of a criminal offence which had not been set aside on appeal; and breach of Clause 27(1)(b)(i) of the former Constitution in that he was guilty of dishonourable practices in any profession or undertaking, in that on 13 October 2006 in the District Court of New South Wales he was found guilty of 43 counts of defrauding from his employer an amount of $2,242,642.22 in breach of section 176A of the Crimes Act. He appealed the decision to the NSW Court of Appeal which, on 19 April 2008, dismissed his appeal.

Mr Watkins was sentenced to a period of imprisonment of seven years with a non parole period of four ½ years.

The Appeals Committee imposed to Mr Watkins a forfeiture of membership and ordered him to pay $75,000 in fines and $831 in costs.
