The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has imposed a conditional ban on securities representative Mark John Hudson, of Hobart.

Mr Hudson is banned from acting as a representative of a securities dealer or an investment adviser for a period of six months. Mr Hudson may however continue to act as a representative of Garrisons Pty Ltd, a licensed dealer in securities, during period of the ban on the conditions that he:
· recommends only financial products approved by Garrisons Pty Ltd; and
· successfully completes a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants

ASIC’s decision follows an investigation into Mr Hudson’s activities as a financial adviser. ASIC became concerned that Mr Hudson was not fulfilling his duties as an investment adviser.

ASIC’s acting Tasmanian Regional Commissioner Simon Dwyer said that ASIC will continue to take appropriate action to protect the public where financial advisers do not meet the high standards expected of them.
