The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has permanently banned Desmond John Trindall, a Maroochydore based securities adviser.
ASIC banned Mr Trindall following allegations that he had misused his position as a director of a company and failed to perform his duties as a representative of a securities dealer efficiently, honestly and fairly.
Mr Trindall has been a representative of six licensed securities dealers over the past six years, and was also director of a company called Zantel Australia Pty Ltd during that time.
ASIC found that Mr Trindall placed the investment funds of some of his clients with Zantel Australia when that investment was not authorised by his licence holder.
In most cases the clients have had their principal repaid to them.
ASIC's Director Enforcement, Allen Turton, said that ASIC continues to ensure investors are protected from advisers who do not carry out their duties efficiently, honestly and fairly.
'The allegations against Mr Trindall were serious and ASIC will not hesitate to take action to protect the public from advisers who cannot be trusted in their industry', he said.
